How did Every You first start out?
Well, I had just moved back from Orlando to South Florida in November of 2008. I hadn't done anything seriously as far as music goes since my last band had broken up in '06, so I was dying to get back into something. Mike's old band was in the middle of recording a new CD with Jason Lancaster (Go Radio, ex-Mayday Parade) at that same time. Mike and I had known each other for a few years, but had never worked together. Long story short, we jammed it out and started writing for Every You in the beginning of '09.
Which song do you enjoy playing the most?
I really enjoy playing A Change Of Scene most, just because I feel like it's the most personal one to me. I usually write songs on an acoustic, and then sometimes mix and match some lines to fit the feel of a song we're writing. This is the only one I've kept without changing any lines. It's basically about leaving something or someone you care so much about, but willing to do anything to get back to that part of your life.
What does playing in a band mean to you?
Music is the only thing that makes sense to me. I went to school, dropped out, hate my job, etc. Music and it's aspects are the only thing I want to do for the rest of my life.
Other than playing music, how do you spend your days?
I work at Starbucks Coffee during the week, Monday through Friday. I have to wake up at 4 am and work at 5 am. It may not sound too tough, but waking up so early 5 days a week is pretty crappy. I also try to spread out my time by going to the gym, cooking, going to shows, reading, and watching the Food Network. I guess I'm a pretty boring dude hahaha.
Has the band ever thought of playing shows in other countries?
We would love to play other countries. We've been in talks with some people about playing in Europe and Japan, but at this time in our career, I think we need to concentrate on touring the States.
Lastly, any last words?
If we end up playing anywhere near you, please come and hang out with us. We're pretty fun guys, and guarantee you'll have a great time, as well!
